The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) wants to take its time before making a decision on the possible back of Russian athletes in international competitions. Take its time and, above all, consult its members. Its president, the Brazilian Andrew Parsons, explained to Kyodo News that the question would not be decided before the next general assembly of the IPC, scheduled for September. Andrew Parsons said that the IPC would like to be aligned with the IOC on the subject, but that the decision would be left to the members of the body. “We took a decision at the General Assembly. Only a new General Assembly can change that.” he explained. As a reminder, the suspension of the Russian Paralympic Committee, and by extension its athletes and officials, had been decided in November 2022 at an extraordinary general assembly of the IPC.
