The International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) has decided… not to take a decision yet on the question of the return of Russian and Belarusian athletes in international competitions. Like another body of the Olympic movement, World Aquatics (ex FINA), it has decided to wait before adopting a clear-cut position. The president of the Russian Gymnastics Federation, Vassili Titov, told the TASS agency: “The International Gymnastics Federation cannot agree at this stage on the criteria for the neutrality of the athletes, so it was decided to postpone the debates on the question to the next meeting of the executive committee in July“. The Russian and Belarus issue was on the agenda of the last FIG meeting, held last weekend in Turkey. In the absence of a decision, the gymnasts of the two countries in conflict with Ukraine remain excluded from international competitions. They compromise their chances of qualification for the Paris 2024 Games.
