The polls’ trend is reversing

Predictable. A week after the Tokyo Games ended, the Japanese media polled public opinion on their perception of the Olympic event. The results show a dramatic reversal of the trend. Polls conducted by Kyodo News, the Yomiuri Shimbun, and the television channels Asahi and TBS, all show that a majority of Japanese people are satisfied that their country hosted the Tokyo Games. To the question “Should the Tokyo Games have been held?”, the rate of positive responses varies between 56% (TV Asahi) and 64% (Yomiuri). Before the Games, Japanese media polls all reflected the opposition of the public to the event, with a disapproval rate often close to 80%.
