The media will remain at the door

The following world promises to be increasingly digital for media representatives, including for coverage of international events. Proof of this will be given later this month in January in Bangkok, where the world’s badminton elite have an appointment for three international tournaments, including the Thailand Open (January 12 to 17), then the Finals of the World Tour (January 27 to 31). The International Badminton Federation (BWF) and Badminton Association of Thailand (BAT) have agreed that the media will not be allowed in the health bubble that has been in place since earlier this month in the Thai capital. The organising committee will provide journalists with footage of the competitions, post-match statements and video interviews, available through a “Digital Media Hub” offered by the BWF. According to the international body, the health bubble organised in Bangkok did not record a single positive case for the coronavirus among the 824 players, coaches and members of the management present in the capital. With their quarantine now over, players are allowed to train under very strict safety protocols. All three Thai tournaments will take place behind closed doors.
