The majority of the French want a cancellation of the Games

Not much of a surprise. With less than six months of the opening of the Tokyo Games (July 23rd to August 8th), mistrust of the Olympic and Paralympic event is spreading. After Japan, where a recent survey revealed that 80% of those questioned wanted a cancellation or a new postponement, France is also being won over by doubt. At the request of RTL and Winamax, the Odoxa institute conducted the survey on January 27 and 28 among a sample of 1 005 people representative of the French population aged 18 and over, including 546 sports fans. For 69% of them, the Tokyo Games will not be maintained (52% probably not, 17% certainly not). Sports fans are a little less defeatist, but they are still 60% to anticipate a cancellation. More surprisingly: 60% of French people who responded to the Internet survey explain that they want the Tokyo Games not to be maintained. Finally, the majority of respondents (57%) believe that French athletes should not be a priority in the COVID-19 vaccination process if they were to go to the Tokyo Games.
