The Games take the Web by storm

Ceremonie ouverture Tokyo Paralympiques

The trend is confirmed. Like the Tokyo Olympic Games, the Paralympic Games are breaking all records in terms of digital platform traffic. IPC spokesperson Craig Spence explained during a press conference on Friday, August 27th: “By lunchtime today (Friday), we will probably have had more visitors to our official website, Paralympic.org, than we did during the entire Rio 2016 Paralympic Games. The numbers are huge. And we’ve also seen some very amazing engagement on TikTok and some of our other digital platforms.” According to Craig Spence, Channel 7, the rights holder for the Paralympic Games in Australia, recorded its best audience ever for a Paralympic event with the opening ceremony on Tuesday, August 24th. It beat its record audience of 42%, set at the Beijing Games in 2008.
