The French Alps show their support

There’s no doubt about it: the French Alps’ bid for the 2030 Winter Games enjoys strong popular support. A survey carried out by IFOP in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur (PACA) region reveals that more than seven out of 10 residents are in favor of the Olympic and Paralympic project. Carried out among 806 people (404 in the Hautes-Alpes and 402 in the Alpes-Maritimes), the opinion survey showed a 73% support rate (44% somewhat favorable, 29% very favorable). Support reached 83% among men (65% among women). It climbs to 88% among respondents aged 18 to 34. An equivalent poll carried out earlier in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes (AURA), the other region in the running for the 2030 Winter Games, showed 81% support. The joint bid for the French Alps is due to be submitted to the IOC on November 7. On November 21, the IOC’s Future Hosts Commission will hear the bid’s proponents.
