The Four Continents find refuge in Europe

The Four Continents figure skating and ice dancing championships are heading west. Initially scheduled to take place in China, in the city of Tianjin, the next edition will finally take place in Europe. After the Chinese organisers cancelled the event, citing sanitary reasons and entry restrictions, the International Skating Union (ISU) opened a call for entries. But no applicants came forward. The ISU Council therefore decided to relocate the competition to Estonia, where the European Championships are already scheduled to be held in January 2022. The Four Continents Championships, an international competition for non-European skaters, will take place from January 18th to 23rd, 2022, in Tallinn, following the European Championships, which are to be held in the same arena a week earlier.
