The first leaders are arriving in Tokyo

With 38 days to go before the opening of the Games, Tokyo will take on an even more Olympic atmosphere this Tuesday, June 15th. The day is marked not only by the publication of the third – and final – version of the practical guides (playbooks) to be used by accredited officials, but also by the arrival of the first IOC envoys. First, John Coates. The Australian leader, chairman of the Tokyo Games Coordination Commission, set foot on Japanese soil before beginning a three-day period of isolation. He will then accompany the organising committee in the last push before the start of the Games. Christophe Dubi, the IOC’s director of the Olympic Games, and Israeli Alex Gilady, vice-president of the Coordination Commission, are also due to arrive in Tokyo on Tuesday, June 15th.
