It’s no surprise that the profession of soccer player agent continues to attract people. FIFA has announced that it has received 6,586 applications from 138 member associations of the six continental confederations to sit its agent examination for the 19 April 2023 session, the first since the regulations on the agent profession came into force in January. Emilio García Silvero, FIFA’s Director of Legal and Compliance, commented: “The large number of applications received confirms that many people want to work with the new regulatory framework, which will bring more certainty by introducing clear rules on the standard levels of service that agents must provide to their clients.” At the end of the current transition period, which ends on October 1, 2023, agents will be required to be licensed. Additional sessions are scheduled for September 20, 2023, and then in May and November 2024.
