Ten medals for Olympic Solidarity

Thomas Bach, the IOC President, took out a whole handful of figures from his pockets at his press conference at the end of the Games, this Friday, February 18, at the Main Media Center in Beijing. Some of them were known, as the number of Chinese viewers who have already followed at least once the 2022 Winter Games (more than 600 millions at the last count), or the number of commitments related to Beijing 2022 registered on the official social networks of the IOC (2,5 billions). The German leader also revealed that 236 athletes present at the Games of Beijing had benefited from an aid of the Olympic Solidarity. They come from 67 countries on five continents and are engaged in five sports in the program. Ten of them have won medals, including two gold. In total, Olympic Solidarity has financially supported 429 athletes competing in the Winter Games from 80 National Olympic Committees. More than half of them won their selection.
