Tax break for disabled sport

With less than 900 days to go before the event, the French political authorities are giving a boost to the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games and to the development of sports for people with disabilities. The government has decided to allocate a reduced VAT rate of 5.5% to disabled sports equipment. A list of specific materials and equipment eligible for this reduced rate has been updated to include equipment enabling disabled people to practice an adapted physical activity, whether for leisure or in competition. It will be included in an order to be published in the Official Journal of the French Republic. This list is the result of work carried out by the State services with the support of the French Paralympic and Sports Committee (CPSF). Presented as a pillar of the State’s legacy plan for the Paris 2024 Games, this measure aims to recognise the development of sport for all people with disabilities. It is accompanied by a digital tool set up by the Ministry of Sports, the Handiguide des Sports, which lists accessible sports facilities close to home in order to encourage regular activity.
