Taekwondo pushes for diversity

The International Taekwondo Federation (World Taekwondo) is not giving up. After having failed in its attempt to impose a mixed team event at the Tokyo Games, it is maintaining its project for the Paris 2024 Games. The body based in South Korea has officially proposed it to the Olympic program commission of the IOC. With the hope of taking advantage of the momentum of the international sports movement in favour of diversity to obtain success. The decision of the IOC Executive Board on the program for the Paris 2024 Games is expected next month. The battle promises to be close for the few additions, if there are any, with the IOC revealing that 20 of the 27 international summer sports federations have proposed a change – essentially the addition of events or of disciplines – on the program for the Paris 2024 Games.
