Tacen site washed away

Slovenian canoeing and kayaking has suffered a major blow. The International Canoe Federation (ICF) reports in a press release that the violent storms and flash floods that hit large parts of Slovenia have devastated the Tacen Whitewater Centre in Ljubljana, one of the world’s historic canoeing and kayaking venues. Buildings were destroyed, equipment washed away, including the slalom gates, and the entire upper section of the slalom course was demolished. The national team outfits are also gone. The toll has not yet been finalised, but the damage is estimated at several million euros. The floods affected two-thirds of the country, causing considerable damage to roads, railways and homes.
