Table tennis gets 3 spots

EOC

The 2023 European Games in Poland are back to basics. After opening the door of the continental event to a few unexpected sports (teqball, padel, summer ski jumping, etc.), the Association of European Olympic Committees (EOC) is returning to familiar territory. It has announced the addition of table tennis to the programme of the next edition, scheduled for Krakow and the Malopolska region. With this announcement, the programme of the 2023 European Games now includes 18 sports. Table tennis is a regular at the event, having already been present in Baku in 2015 and Minsk in 2019. The 152 table tennis players who will be in Poland for the European Games will have their eyes on Paris 2024, as the continental event offers quotas for the Olympic tournament. The programme for the 2023 European Games is increasingly shaping up to be an exciting mix of traditional Olympic sports (archery, badminton, boxing, shooting, canoeing, cycling, modern pentathlon, taekwondo, triathlon, table tennis) and disciplines that are historically less anchored in the Olympic movement (3×3 basketball, beach handball, karate, muaythai, padel, summer ski jumping, rock climbing, teqball).
