Sustainability and integrity under discussion

Expected. The Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) has beefed up the programme for its next General Assembly, scheduled for 19-21 October 2022 in Seoul (South Korea), with two new thematic sessions. They are proving to be very trendy, as they will be dedicated to sustainability and integrity in sport. The two sessions will take place on the last day of the General Assembly, Friday 21 October, at the COEX in the South Korean capital. According to an ANOC press release, the two themes were chosen after consultation with the National Olympic Committees. The first session, entitled “Sustainability in Sport“, will be moderated by Damian Foxall, a sailor and project manager at The Toolbox – a company that provides a series of guides, tools and templates for organizations to establish their own sustainability programmes. The second session, entitled “How to protect integrity in sport“, will start with an introductory speech by the Chairman of the ANOC Legal Commission, Mike Chambers. The ANOC General Assembly will also be marked by the election of the organisation’s President and First Vice-President. The vote is expected to be straightforward, with the two candidates – Fijian Robin Mitchell for President and Qatari Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Than for Vice-President – running unopposed.
