Further support for the French Alps’ bid to host the Winter Games in 2030. Following in the footsteps of the elected representatives of the two regions in the running – Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes – the Ecole du Ski Français (ESF) has announced that it is in good standing behind the Olympic and Paralympic project. “These regions have many assets to offer in hosting an event of this scale: the space, the facilities, the sporting spirit, strong values of solidarity, determination and sharing, the historic practice of Olympic disciplines and, of course, men and women who are very attached to their mountain environment, explains an ESF press release. They also demonstrate their desire and ambition to make these the first sustainable Winter Olympics, Games that promote transitions in the mountain world, economical Games and popular Games.” Founded in 1945, the ESF currently employs 17,000 ski instructors in all disciplines. It has 200 ski schools in the five French massifs.
