Climbing turns to Asia. Its international body, the IFSC, chose Singapore as the host city for its annual general assembly, held last weekend. It was marked by the attribution to another Asian capital, Seoul, of the world championships in 2025, the first of the next Olympiad. At the same general assembly, where 65 delegates represented 46 national federations, the IFSC voted to change the minimum age from 16 to 17 for participation in senior international events, including World Cups and Worlds, starting in 2025. The change was passed with a majority of 57% of the votes. The year 2023 is shaping up to be a historically busy year for climbing, with the discipline entering the program for the European Games in Poland, the Pan American Games in Chile and the Asian Games in China.
