Second postponement for Hangzhou 2022

Anything but a surprise. After the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou, the disabled version of the continental multi-sport event has now been officially postponed. The Chinese agency Xinhua reports that the Para Asian Games, scheduled for October 9-15 in Hangzhou, will not be able to take place on the original dates. The cause is the COVID-19 pandemic. The Asian Paralympic Committee (APC) explained through its president, Majid Rashed, that the decision was inevitable. The body also confirmed that the emblem and slogan of the Games would not be changed. The event will also still be dated 2022, even if it does take place next year. “We will now work with the organising committee to find a new date that fits the calendar,” Majid Rashed said. The postponement of the Asian Games for Disabled Sports follows the postponement of the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou (10-25 September), announced earlier this month by the Council of Asian Olympic Committees (OCA).
