Russia allows foreign spectators

euro 2020

With three weeks to go before the begining of the tournament, Russia has announced its decision to allow ticket holders from abroad to enter the country without a visa for Euro 2020 soccer matches (June 11th to July 11th, 2021) played in St. Petersburg. The announcement was made on Thursday, May 20th, by the local organizing committee. Russia has limited the entry of foreigners into the country because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It currently accepts only citizens from countries with which it has resumed regular international flights. But according to Alexei Sorokin, executive director of the organizing committee, officials and team members will still have to comply with sanitary regulations. They will especially have to undergo a COVID-19 test. The city of St. Petersburg confirmed to UEFA last month that its stadium could be filled up to 50 percent of its capacity for the tournament. Seven matches are scheduled in St. Petersburg, including a quarter-final.
