Qatar will receive its enemies

Diplomatic football. According to FIFA, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Egypt will travel to Qatar next year to take part in the Arab Cup, a tournament with 22 national teams supposed to serve as a test before the World Cup 2022. The three countries have however been in conflict with Qatar for more than three years. They severed economic and diplomatic ties, accusing the Gulf state authorities of supporting radical Islamist groups and of drawing closer to Iran. “We are delighted that the 22 teams from the Arab world have agreed to participate in the 2021 FIFA Arab Cup, which will take place in the stadiums of the 2022 World Cup”, said Gianni Infantino, FIFA president, in a statement. The competition will take place from December 1 to 18, 2021. With less than a year before the 2022 World Cup, it will be primarily for Qatar to finally open its new stadiums to the public. To date, only three of the eight World Cup enclosures have been able to receive spectators.
