Paris to host the awards evening

We are heading to Paris for the next edition of the annual Laureus Academy World Awards. It will be held on 8 May in the French capital. And it will be the first in a physical, old-fashioned format, after two years of only virtual presentations. The awards ceremony will recognise the best athletes and sports performances of a year 2022 marked by the Winter Games in Beijing and the World Cup in Qatar. It will also include the Laureus Sport for Good Award, which recognises an individual or organisation that has contributed to the transformation of the lives of children and young people through sport. Of particular interest to the host country will be the Male Athlete of the Year award, for which Kylian Mbappé is nominated, along with Lionel Messi. The French men’s rugby team is also nominated, but in the Laureus Team of the Year category – along with Lionel Messi’s Argentina – for their victory and Grand Slam in the 2022 Six Nations tournament.
