Olympic venues soon open to the public

The Olympic and Paralympic legacy is being established in Japan. The priority is to ensure that as many people as possible can use the facilities of the last Summer Games. The Tokyo Metropolitan Government has announced that three of the Olympic venues will be reopened next year: the Sea Forest rowing and canoeing venue, the Oi hockey stadium, and the Kasai whitewater canoeing centre. The first of these is scheduled to open to the general public at the end of April 2022. The hockey stadium will be accessible in mid-June. Finally, the slalom river should be partially open by the end of July. The rest is planned for the following months. The Ariake Arena, used during the Tokyo Games for wheelchair volleyball and basketball, could also open next year. The aquatic centre, which hosted the swimming and diving events, is expected to open to the public in spring 2023.
