Number of the day: 83%

Team USA
Jonathan Finnoff, the medical director of the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC), explained it a few hours before the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Games: 83% of Team USA’s athletes are vaccinated against COVID-19. The figure was established based on medical records filled by the American athletes before their trip to Japan. There would thus be about a hundred out of the 613 selected for the Games not to have been vaccinated, most of them by personal choice. To date, the American delegation recorded two COVID cases: a beach volleyball player, Taylor Crabb, and a substitute from the gymnastics team, Kara Eaker.
