New date and format

As a direct consequence of the cancellation of the next edition of SportAccord, initially scheduled for 15-20 May in Ekaterinburg, the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF) has postponed its General Assembly. It was to be held in Russia as part of SportAccord. It will now take place in Lausanne on 8 June, but in a hybrid format. On the agenda are the modifications of the ASOIF statutes and the preparation of the Paris 2024 Games. The body chaired by Francesco Ricci Bitti also announced that it was joining the rest of the Olympic movement in condemning the Russian invasion of Ukraine. “What is currently happening in Ukraine is heartbreaking, said the Italian leader in a statement. It goes totally against our values and the Olympic values. Our thoughts are with the many people affected, young and old, in these extremely difficult and troubling times. Let us all do our best to stand united for peace.”
