MPC to open on July 9

The date is official: the Main Media Center (MPC) for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games will open its doors on July 9. Just under three weeks before the Opening Ceremony. The OCOG made the announcement at the World Press Briefing, held this week in Paris. Initially scheduled to take place at Le Bourget, in Seine-Saint-Denis, the MPC was relocated last year to the Palais des Congrès de la Porte Maillot, in the north-west of the capital, not far from the Champs-Elysées. It will initially be open to the media with reduced opening hours – 8:00 am to 10:00 pm – from July 9 to 20, before operating 24 hours a day until it closes on August 12, the day after the show closes. The Palais des Congrès will occupy three floors, while the rest of the complex, including the first floor, will remain open to the public. For the Paralympic Games, the MPC will be based at the Olympic Aquatic Center in Saint-Denis. Used during the Olympic Games for artistic swimming, diving and water polo, it will not host any sporting events for the Paralympic event.
