Mountain biking in Fort William

With just over a year to go, the 2023 World Cycling Championships in Scotland are taking shape. The International Cycling Union (UCI) and local organisers have revealed that the downhill mountain bike events will be held in Fort William, on the Nevis Range. The iconic venue is the eighth venue announced for the 2023 World Championships (3-13 August), the first ever to bring together all cycling disciplines. It is also the third venue outside of Glasgow, after Dumfries & Galloway for para-cycling and Stirling for the road time trials. Located in the Scottish Highlands, Fort William has a long tradition of hosting elite competitions, having already been the venue for the 2007 Mountain Bike and Trials World Championships and a Mountain Bike World Cup stage every year since 2002. The UCI explained in a statement that other venues and locations for the various world championships included in the 2023 World Championships in Scotland will be confirmed in the coming weeks and months.
