Russia goes on the offensive in its arm wrestling with the international Olympic movement. With a new target: Canada. A press release from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, published on Wednesday, April 12, announces that 42 Canadian athletes have been placed on a list of people whose entry into Russia will henceforth be forbidden. Moscow blames them for having co-signed a petition, dated March 9, asking the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) to maintain its suspension of Russian and Belarusian athletes, despite the recommendations of the IOC. The list includes figure skater Tessa Virtue (pictured above), triple Olympic champion in ice dance (2010 and 2018) and team (2018). Her former partner on the ice, Meagan Duhamel, is also banned from entering Russia.
