More tests for athletes

Nothing is official yet, but Japan is seriously considering testing athletes for COVID-19 on a daily basis during the Tokyo Games. Japan’s new Olympic Games Minister, Tamayo Marukawa, said at a press conference last weekend. She explained that the daily drug tests are being studied in order to further strengthen the health and security of the event, as it now seems unlikely that all the countries involved will have had the time and the means to vaccinate their athletes before the start of the Games. Initially, the Japanese organisers had announced that they wanted to test the athletes once every four days.
