Marisol Casado sees double

A busy weekend for Marisol Casado. The President of the International Triathlon Federation (World Triathlon) attended the annual general assembly of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC), while directing her own body’s congress at the same time, in virtual mode (photo above, image on the right). Very strong. The World Triathlon Congress, held on Sunday, October 24th, concluded with a message from Marisol Casado in the form of a promise: “To be ambitious and to do our best for our sport and its athletes”. The international body reiterated its determination to halve its CO2 emissions by 2030. It increased the number of its member federations to 165. It carefully listened to the findings of the financial report, prepared by the auditing firm PwC, that World Triathlon’s accounts remain strong despite the impact of the sanitary crisis. It expressed its confidence that the international calendar will return to full operation by 2022 without any postponements or cancellations. Finally, the World Triathlon Congress awarded Sweden’s Lotta Johansson, a quarter-century-long campaigner for the cause of disabled sport and the place of women in the discipline, its Excellence Award for 2021.
