Louise Mushikiwabo invited to the Elysée

Perfect timing. Emmanuel Macron is scheduled to meet this Monday morning, March 20, on the occasion of the International Day of the Francophonie, with the secretary general of the International Organization of the Francophonie (OIF), Louise Mushikiwabo of Rwanda. According to the Elysee, the discussion “will focus on the implementation of joint projects in favor of the Francophonie as a vector of creation, economic dynamism and learning.” Among them, the next summit of the Francophonie planned in France in 2024, but also two sporting events: the Jeux de la Francophonie 2023 in Kinshasa and the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris 2024. According to the French presidency, Emmanuel Macron will also return to the Francophonie component of his recent trip to the DRC, the most populous French-speaking country in the world. Initially scheduled for 2021, but postponed twice, the Jeux de la Francophonie are to be held from July 28 to August 6, 2023 in Kinshasa.
