London Mayor Sadiq Khan (pictured above) wants the Olympics. He has never made a secret of it, but his ambition seems to be gaining momentum. “We are working with our colleagues to explore a bid, he told the news site MyLondon. For 2032 and 2036, the matter is settled. But for 2040, we could host the greenest Olympic Games in history. The advantage in London is that there would be no need to build new facilities. We already have everything. So the Games would not risk leaving a large carbon footprint.” According to Sadiq Khan, a repeat of the Games in 2040, less than 30 years after London 2012, could also help solve some of the city’s problems, including transportation and the city’s long-term infrastructure.
