World Triathlon is already looking ahead to the Olympic year. The body took advantage of the world championship finals, held at the weekend in Pontevedra (Spain), to hold a meeting of its executive committee. It approved the 2024 calendar. Once again, the World Triathlon Championship Series will kick off in March in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. They will end in October (17-20) in Malaga, Spain, where the world titles will be awarded. In the meantime, the Olympic season will be marked by a brand new stage of the Championship Series, scheduled for May in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. Rome, Tangier (Morocco), Brasilia and Vina Del Mar (Chile) will also be back on the calendar. Finally, the French town of Liévin, in the Nord region, will host the first indoor World Cup in March. For the occasion, a temporary swimming pool will be set up inside the athletics track. The competition will award points for the world ranking, but will not count towards Olympic qualification.
