Good news for the Paris 2024 Games: the next Olympic basketball tournament could be marked by the return of LeBron James in a Team USA jersey. According to several sources in the USA, the NBA’s all-time leading scorer would be keen to make his return to the international stage next year in France. ESPN reports that LeBron James is among a group of NBA players interested in participating in the Paris 2024 Games. The Athletic, meanwhile, reports that the Los Angeles Lakers player has already approached several other league stars to join him in this Olympic adventure, including Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, Anthony Davis, Jayson Tatum and Draymond Green. At 38, LeBron James is a three-time Olympic medalist, including two gold medals (Beijing 2008 and London 2012). But he hasn’t worn the Team USA jersey since the London 2012 Games final. According to several sources, LeBron James’ desire to experience “one last dance” at the Paris 2024 Games, and his efforts to convince other players, are not linked to the US team’s disappointing result – only 4th – at the 2023 World Cup. He would have begun his efforts before the American defeat by Canada in the bronze medal match. At the Paris 2024 Games, the basketball tournament is scheduled to take place at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy in Lille for the group phase, then at the Arena de Bercy from the quarter-finals onwards.
