Kazan wins the Worlds in the small pool

After Abu Dhabi this year, Kazan next year. The International Swimming Federation (FINA) has unveiled the venue for the 2022 edition of the World Championships in the small pool (25m). They will be held in the Russian city of Kazan, which already hosted the 2015 World Championships. The competitions will be held from 17 to 22 December at the Aquatics Palace. Coincidentally, the World Championships will start on the very day that Russia’s two-year suspension from the Olympic movement, imposed by the Court of Arbitration for Sport after a complaint from the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), is due to end. FINA will feel at home in Kazan, as the Russian city is home to the international body’s development centre. It will also host the World Championships in the Olympic pool in 2025, the first of the next Olympiad. The 2021 World Championships in the 25m pool are scheduled to take place from 16 to 21 December in Abu Dhabi.
