No bad surprises in store for José Perurena. The Spanish leader, former president of the International Canoe Federation (ICF), will be re-elected without a second thought this Wednesday, May 3, as president of the International World Games Association (IWGA). He is the only candidate for the top job. The election is scheduled during the annual general assembly of the body, held in Madrid (Spain). Jose Perurena has been leading the IWGA since 2014. But his third consecutive term will be the shortest of the trio, since reduced to only three years, the last one having been extended by one year due to the health crisis. On the other hand, nothing is decided for the position of vice-president. Two candidates will compete for the succession of the British Max Bishop, from the International Aeronautical Federation, who decided not to seek a new mandate: the Swiss Tom Dielen, current Secretary General of the International Archery Federation (World Archery), and the German Jörn Verleger, President of the International Fistball Federation. The last World Games were held last year in Birmingham, Alabama. The next edition is scheduled for 2025 in Chengdu, China.
