John Coates tours Olympic sites

John Coates

John Coates is hard at work. The Australian leader (pictured above, centre), the first IOC member to arrive in Tokyo for the Summer Games, has begun his tour of Olympic venues. As Chairman of the IOC Coordination Commission, he made a stop on Wednesday, June 23rd, at the new gymnastics complex in Ariake, in the Koto district. Accompanied by Christophe Dubi, the IOC Director of the Olympic Games, and the President of the Organising Committee, Seiko Hashimoto, John Coates was given a very detailed explanation of the sanitary measures planned for the competition site, including the installation of a tent outside the hall to isolate all those who might be at risk of infection with COVID-19, and the set up of a special itinerary for the athletes, with no possible contact with other accredited persons. John Coates is due to continue his sites’ visit over the next few days.
