Joe Biden casts doubt on the American presence

Will the Americans participate in the Tokyo Games? The question didn’t even arise, but a very unexpected statement from Joe Biden makes it relevant today. Asked Sunday, February 7th by the Westwood One radio network, at halftime of the Super Bowl, the new American president confided that the presence of Team USA was not assured. “Hopefully we can participate, hopefully it will be possible, but that remains to be seen“, suggested Joe Biden. The tenant of the White House, who had not spoken publicly on the issue of the Tokyo Games since his election, went on to say that Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga “was working very hard to be in a position of being able to safely open the Games”. But Joe Biden added a dose of mystery to him by explaining that any decision on the subject had to be “based on science“.
