ITTF moves back its World Day

Change of programme for the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF). Meeting this week in Amman (Jordan) for its annual Summit, the body chaired by the Swedish Petra Sörling has decided to postpone its World Table Tennis Day starting from next year. Organised since its creation on 6 April, to coincide with the International Sport for Development and Peace Day, it will now be held on 23 April. The ITTF explains in a press release that the new date is “significant in the long history of the federation“, as it is the birth date of Ivor Montagu, the founder and first president of the ITTF, who organised the first World Table Tennis Championships in 1926. Next year, World Table Tennis Day will bring the table tennis community together under the banner of sustainability. The slogan for 2023 is “Think sustainably, act now“. A nice formula. Great slogan.
