Italy will double the stake

Sea rowing takes root in Italy. The world body of the discipline, World Rowing, has awarded the city of Genoa the organization of the World Championships in 2024. The event will bring together sea rowing and beach sprinting in the capital of Liguria. Italy has already organized the World Rowing Championships twice, in San Remo in 2008 and in Bari in 2011. It will host the event again this year, in the city of Barletta, located in the Puglia region. The discipline of beach sprint has been officially proposed to the IOC to be included in the program of the Games Los Angeles in 2028. The decision is expected in June. It is already on the program of the 2023 World Beach Games in Bali (Indonesia), the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Victoria (Australia), and the 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Dakar (Senegal).
