Israel denies rumours of a boycott of the opening

The Israeli delegation will indeed march in the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Games on Friday, July 26. In recent weeks, media reports have suggested otherwise. It suggested that the Israeli team might boycott the opening ceremony on the Seine for security reasons. In a letter sent to the Paris 2024 OCOG, which has come to the attention of FrancsJeux, the Israeli Olympic Committee denies the rumor. Signed by the body’s president, Yael Arad, and director general, Gilad Lustig, the letter explains: “Recently, the French media reported that there were doubts about the Israeli delegation’s participation in the opening ceremony next July. We would like to state unequivocally that we are working with the Paris 2024 organizing committee in excellent cooperation and have confidence in them. We trust the French security services to ensure the safety of our delegation. The Israeli delegation will of course participate in all events and competitions, including the opening ceremony next year at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.” The Israeli NOC was present last month at the Chef de Mission seminar organized by the OCOG. In particular, its representative took part in a one-on-one meeting with the French authorities on the issue of security during the Games.
