ISB wins the bid

The UIPM is turning to Spain. The world governing body of modern pentathlon has announced that it has chosen Madrid-based ISB as its new television and digital content partner. Last August, the UIPM launched an international call for tenders for the production and distribution of its television programmes and the digital content of its digital platforms. At stake were no less than eight major events on the international modern pentathlon calendar, including the World Championships and the World Cup Final. Nine proposals were submitted. ISB (International Sport Broadcasting) won the bid, with the Spanish company coming out on top on the basis of five decisive factors: its understanding of the specifications, its experience in similar sports, its proven success in comparable projects, the quality of the proposal and the value for money. ISB was founded by Manolo Romero, who in 2001 created OBS, the IOC subsidiary responsible for producing images for the Olympic Games. At the same time, the UIPM announced the creation of its first commission dedicated to television. It will be chaired by another Spaniard, Juan Antonio Samaranch, an IOC member and current Vice-President of the body.
