Gianni Infantino definitely likes pushing back the walls. After campaigning, without success so far, for a 2022 World Cup in Qatar with 48 teams, the FIFA president is now insisting on an enlarged Club World Cup. He repeated it in Doha, Thursday, February 11th, on the sidelines of the final of the competition. Gianni Infantino wants the competition to not only bring together one club from each continental confederation in the future. “We need to increase participation to boost club football around the world” he explains. The enlargement of the Club World Cup was announced for the 2021 edition, but the tournament has been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
