Infantino suggests a Euros every two years

How far will Gianni Infantino go? The FIFA president used his first interview of the year with Italian radio show Anch’io Sport to once again talk about his plans for a World Cup every two years. But in a surprise move, he suggested that the formula of a world tournament every other year could also be applied to the Euros. “The World Cup every two years is not a request from me, but from the FIFA Congress, which asked for a feasibility study”, explained Gianni Infantino. “We have made a very serious study. From a sporting point of view, it would work. The economic impact would be positive for everyone. In Europe, there is opposition to this project but it is a way to include. Like the World Cups, the Euros could also be held every two years.” Despite the stated and repeated hostility of Slovene UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin, the project pushed by Gianni Infantino continues to advance. However, FIFA is careful not to reveal a timetable or the precise conditions for its possible adoption.
