The end for Hamane Niang. The Malian leader, president of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) since 2019, will conclude his four-year term on Wednesday 23 August at the body’s 22nd Congress, being held over two days in Manila. Following the last meeting of the FIBA Central Board for the 2019-2023 cycle, held on Tuesday 22 August, the Congress is due to elect its new President for the next four years (2023-2027). More than 160 national federations are represented in Manila, for an open congress before the start of the Men’s World Cup (25 August to 10 September in the Philippines, Indonesia and Japan). As well as electing a new president, the delegates will choose a new treasurer. They will also decide on the composition of the central office.
