Further support for the French Alps’ bid to host the Winter Games in 2030. It was not a foregone conclusion. Two national ecologist parties – Ecologie au Centre and Union des Écologistes et Centristes – and the federations of the French Communist Party (PCF) in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur (PACA) region have officially declared their support for the Olympic and Paralympic project. Renaud Muselier, the President of the region and instigator of the French bid with Laurent Wauquiez, his counterpart from the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, explained in a press release: “In concrete terms, if they agree, they will be received within the next ten days so that their contributions can be added to our bid.” The French bid is due to be submitted to the IOC on Tuesday 7 November. It will then be heard on 21 November by the Winter Games Future Host Commission.
