Ghana to host first Paralympic Games

The Paralympic movement has taken another step forward in its global development strategy. Ghana will host the first ever Paralympic Games of Africa in two years. The announcement was made by Samson Deen, President of the Ghana National Paralympic Committee. The leader explained that the event, prepared with the support of the Ghanaian Ministry of Youth and Sports, will take place in 2023 in Accra, the capital. It is expected to bring together about 50 African countries. “The government is committed to offering the necessary support and logistics to make the organisation of the African Paralympic Games in 2023 possible,” assured Samson Deen. Ghana is due to host the 13th edition of the All Africa Games in 2023 in Accra, for the first time since the creation of the continental event. The dates of the competitions have not yet been finalised, but the country has embarked on a vast project to build sports infrastructures.
