Ghana has set the dates

With the event just one year away, Ghanaian organisers on Thursday (August 4) unveiled the dates of the 2023 All Africa Games in Accra. The continental multi-sport event will take place from 4 to 19 August. A new box is thus ticked on the roadmap of the organizing committee. It is in addition to another major step in the preparation, the adoption of the sports programme, already announced by the organising committee. The 2023 All-Africa Games will feature 23 sports, including three newcomers – cricket, rugby and arm wrestling – and a demonstration sport, teqball. Otherwise, the next twelve months are going to be intense in Accra. The athletes’ village is still under construction in Legon. A new sports complex has yet to be finalised in the Borteyman area, to host swimming, tennis and several indoor sports. Ghana has never before hosted the All-Africa Games, the last edition of which was held in August 2019 in Rabat, Morocco.
