Germany almost at full strength

The Paris 2024 Games have already taken on a very concrete dimension for the world’s elite in sprint canoe-kayak. Following the recent world sprint championships in Duisburg, the world body for the discipline (ICF) has done its sums: no fewer than 28 countries have officially obtained at least one quota for the Olympic events. At the top of the list is Germany, with 17 athletes already confirmed. Spain and Hungary follow close behind, with 15 quotas. Six nations obtained just one quota at the Duisburg World Championships: Argentina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Chile, Croatia and the United States. Each country can win a maximum of 18 quotas: six in men’s and women’s kayak, and three in men’s and women’s canoe. The only quota currently missing for Germany is the women’s C1 200.
