With 500 days to go before the opening, the organisers of the 2024 Youth Winter Games in Gangwon, South Korea, unveiled on Tuesday 6 September the slogan of the Olympic event: “Grow together, shine forever”. It is intended to reflect the vision of the upcoming Winter YOG: growth, coexistence, harmony and the future. The slogan was selected from a series of comments received from a diverse group of people, including gender, age and country of residence. In addition to revealing the slogan, the Gangwon 2024 Organising Committee had planned to mark the symbolic date of D-500 days with several celebrations, but these were cancelled or postponed after the authorities decided to raise its typhoon warning to its highest level. The Gangwon Winter Youth Olympic Games are scheduled to take place from 19 January to 1 February 2024. Most of the competitions will be held at venues inherited from the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Games. Approximately 1,900 athletes are expected to compete in Gangwon 2024 from over 80 countries.
